The festive season is just around the corner and those party invitations are starting to come in. People often say don't bring a thing (but of course you know they don't mean it and you absolutely should). 

Whether it is just pre-dinner drinks or a full sit down feast, champagne or sparkling wine is a great choice. And if your host already has cocktails or wine flowing and it doesn't get opened, it seamlessly becomes a gift without anyone getting offended.
